POSITION SUMMARY

 The Account Manager focuses on client retention by building long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with assigned Intercollegiate Sports clients. S/he takes a consultative approach to understanding client needs and offering customized solutions while providing exemplary customer service. S/he conducts risk assessments, analyzes client data, finds pressure points and identifies cost management strategies. The Account Manager works with Producers and other internal teams, and consistently projects a professional company image through all interactions with clients, insurance carriers, team members and others. 


 

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY 

• Serves as client advocate and a primary point of contact for assigned, nationally-based accounts 

• Communicates with clients to understand their needs, develop custom solutions and explain product value 

• Builds effective and collaborative relationships with clients based on trust, managing expectations and service commitments, and anticipating their needs 

• Handles policy renewals end-to-end for assigned accounts, including but not limited to information gathering, proposal and/or RFP preparation, delivery, binds, invoices and follow up 

• Collaborates with Account Executives, Producers and other internal client service teams to fulfill client deliverables • Identifies, conducts research, and resolves insurance plan issues; determines when issues need to be escalated to the executive/producer level

 • Supports Account Executives and Producers in new business development, new client onboarding and ongoing client service • Answers email, telephone calls, and/or written correspondence related to client’s plans in a timely manner, documents all client interaction and updates client service logs as required 

• Collects and analyzes data (typically using Excel analytics); reviews to ensure it is complete, accurate and reasonable; develops insights and prepares report deliverables using specified formats 

• Creates client presentations/reports using Excel and/or PowerPoint 

• Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of company products and services 

• Represents company at events such as presentations, orientation meetings, client meetings, and industry conferences 

• Communicates regularly with supervisor, account executive and producers to report on service delivery (how many calls, issue/resolution, timeframes, etc.) 

• Suggests additional communications or products to improve service levels to the client as needed 

• Understands and demonstrates project management and consulting skills such as managing the quality and timeliness of client deliverables, participating in client calls and meetings, delegating to and reviewing project work of more junior colleagues and assists with the preparation and delivery of clear and concise client-friendly communications 

•Recommends process improvements as needed 

• Delivers target relationship and annual revenue goals, agreed upon with the President of RES 

• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned 



Requirements

 SKILLS • Outstanding interpersonal skills are required to maintain effective relationships with clients, coworkers, carriers, vendors and others 

• Strong oral and written communication skills 

• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills 

• Strong presentation skills for both in-person and teleconference/webinar sessions 

• In-depth understanding of the lines of coverage of the assigned block of business; may include student health plans, intercollegiate sports plans, special risk plans, medical, dental, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), vision, etc. 

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, PowerPoint and Word). Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications, such as member enrollment programs, agency management/CRM software, etc. 

• Working knowledge of the rules and regulations and compliance requirements relevant to the assigned block of business such as HIPAA, COBRA, Health Care Reform and all other legislation and compliance-related areas 

• Working knowledge of insurance markets, products, services, insurance ratings and underwriting procedures 

• Must have a valid driver’s license, the ability to travel to client sites and a reliable source of transportation 


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

 • College degree preferred 

• Prior account management or related client management experience preferred 

• Familiarity with intercollegiate athletic associations a plus 

• Ability to travel overnight up to 15% of the time 

• 3+ years’ experience in the insurance industry or relevant insurance industry services with a focus on Accident and Health lines of coverage or risk management or student health administration work related experience in a higher education or sports training environment is required 


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

 A Life Accident & Health license from state of domicile is required with 60 days of hire
