SUMMARY

The Senior Paralegal provides high-quality, timely, and effective support to the General Counsel and Legal Department, primarily its Risk Management vertical. The Senior Paralegal has responsibility for reviewing, fact-gathering, and responding to subpoenas and Department of Insurance complaints, assisting with responding to pending litigation deliverables, maintaining corporate governance documents, assisting with management of equity issuances and repurchases, developing and implementing procedures, and other duties as assigned. All such duties must be performed with a high level of attention to detail, integrity and professionalism..


A GLIMPSE INTO THE POSITION

• Maintain corporate governance files, manage minute books for parent company and all subsidiaries, assist with drafting board consents, and prepare information for board meetings

• Assist in preparation of key documents, including equity documentation and related filings

• Prepares and updates trackers for equity, employment, and other matters and regularly updates to maintain consistency in files

• Research and respond to subpoenas, demand or cease and desist letters, Department of Insurance complaints, and the like

• Maintain summary of and documents related to pending and closed litigation matters, errors and omission claims, Department of Insurance complaints, and other dispute matters

• Develop and implement new or improved processes and procedures to improve efficiencies and data maintenance 

• Assist with review of ordinary course business contracts

• Maintain Legal Department files in designated electronic document storage system, enter and maintain information and documents in such system

• Provide administrative assistance to General Counsel

• Obtain and review legal-related invoices from law firms and other service providers and arrange for payment of expenses following General Counsel’s approval

• Assist with obtaining corporate officer signatures on documents approved by attorneys in Relation’s Legal Department

• Performs other duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned by the General Counsel or her designee



 



Requirements

SKILLS• Strong and consistent attention to detail in all work, including composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations• Continually demonstrates poise, tact and diplomacy• Excellent verbal and written communication• Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite• Possesses a professional and positive demeanor

  

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
  •  3+ years of legal services, project management or other related work experience 
  • Preference given to those with previous insurance industry or financial services experience
